100 YEARS LATER…
Finally, the moment we have all been waiting for! The first of three very special, commemorative Americana models has been completed. It is currently on display at the Fretboard Summit in Chicago, and will be available to inspect in Arvada, Colorado at the Rocky Mountain Archtop Festival in two weeks (unless somebody in Chicago decides to keep it… the next one isn’t far behind).
With a non-cutaway body, unique washed in burst, and bound appointments, this guitar gives a nod to the first modern archtop designed by Lloyd Loar in 1923 (hence the LL denotation in the serial number), but remains a Benedetto thru and thru, exhibiting some of Bob’s innovations; the violin style tailpiece, ideal 17″ x 3″ dimensions, and minimalist aesthetic.
A PLUS PLUS
This incredible custom 16″ built for a customer with a spectacular vision is truly a wonder… besides a surprising voice that belies its size, we’ve been colloquially referring to the back internally as “27A” flamed maple. It’s just that beautiful!
A FINE WINE TIME WAS HAD BY ALL
Another Miner Benedetto Cabernet release concert is in the books and as always it was beautifully captured by BG friend and photographer, Mike Oria!
CHICO E ROMERO
Well, the Benedetto Miner release concert is sold out, but this alternative concert in nearby Healdsburg, CA features BG Artists extraordinaire, Chico Pinheiro and Romero Lubambo, on Saturday, August 20 with a bonus anniversary party on Sunday the 21st. Click this link to get your tickets.
AN OLD FIREND
Jazz Guitar Today does it again with a feature on the Cremona Azzurra from the Chinery Blue Guitar Collection! Also, thanks to Ted Ludwig for such detailed observation and lovely playing.
HUNGARIAN SENSATION
A beautifully filmed conversation with Hungarian guitarist, Máté Palásti. We don’t speak a word of Hungarian, but we gather from the lovely shots of his Bambino Deluxe and great sounds coming from it that it is working for him! Check out his new album, “That’s How My Guitar Sings.”
SOMETHING DIFFERENT
King Solomon Hicks showing just how versatile the Pat Martino Signature model can be!
DISPATCHES FROM SAO PAULO
Keep and eye out for an upcoming record by BG Artist, Davy Mooney, and click here to get some background in this feature from Jazz Guitar Today magazine.
CENTENNIAL MARCH
We’re making great progress on our centennial celebration guitars! Bob boxed up the two Sinfonietta bodies and now Damon is busy binding them. Meanwhile, the three commemorative Americana model guitars are looking spectacular in the finish department.
For those of you wondering why, 2023 marks 100 years since Lloyd Loar released the first modern archtop guitar design into the world, and we’re not letting a milestone like that pass without marking the occasion in big style!
INTERN OUT
Big thanks to Spencer Alexander, our summer intern this year. He’s heading back to school at Coastal Carolina but we sure enjoyed having a helping hand all summer!
